Melbourne High School Crew Team Trip to Princeton, New Jersey
The Melbourne High School Crew Team is requesting School Board approval to participate in the Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) National Championship Regatta in Princeton, New Jersey, on May 22-25, 2014.
The team recently received an invitation to attend the National Championship. In addition to the highest level of competition in New Jersey, there will also be many colleges present that will allow the student athletes a chance to showcase their talents to the collegiate coaches.
Ten students along with five coaches/chaperones and many parents plan to travel to Princeton, New Jersey, on May 22. It is anticipated that the cost per student will be approximately $750 to cover airfare, hotel, and regatta fees. The cost will be covered by each participant and will be offset by fundraisers. Meals will be provided by parents. The group plans to stay at the Princeton Marriott at Forrestal in Princeton, New Jersey. The races will be held on May 23 and 24. The group will return during the evening of Sunday, May 25.
The students will miss two days of school (May 22 and 23). There will be no cost to the District.
Approve the trip request by the Melbourne High School Crew Team to travel to Princeton, New Jersey, on May 22-25, 2014, to participate in the Scholastic Rowing Association of American National Championship Regatta.
