Field Trip for Satellite High School AFJROTC students to travel to George Mason University, June 21-25, 2013
In December, 2012 and February, 2013, five Satellite High School AFJROTC students, Jacob Senecal, Bryon Chaney, Andrew Thomas, Hailey Binggeli, and Brian Nyffenegger, were triumphant in the AFJROTC Academic Bowl Round 1 and Round 2 Competitions. As a result of their success, four of the five students have earned a trip to Fairfax, Virginia to compete in the National Championship held at George Mason University (GMU) on June 21-25, 2013. Satellite's JROTC students comprise one of 15 teams competing. Traveling students are Jacob Senecal, Andrew Thomas, Hailey Binggeli, and Brian Nyffenegger. Bryon Chaney is listed as an alternate for the trip and competition. The four students will travel with the JROTC instructor/chaperone, Lt. Col. Richard Fish. The female chaperone for Hailey Binggeli will be provided by the College Options Foundation once students arrive at GMU. Students will stay in the GMU campus dormitories with males and females staying in separate dorms. There will be a chaperone posted throughout the night on each floor of each dorm. The College Options Foundation sponsors this competition to include travel, room, meals, and a charter bus tour to the Capital Mall for the participants.
