Eau Gallie High School Trip to Jefferson Awards National Ceremony and Gala Event in Washington, D.C.

Discussion

The Jefferson Awards Deloitte Students in Action program selected Eau Gallie High School as the Central Florida Recipient for Outstanding Service by a High School, and the school will represent Central Florida at the Jefferson Awards National Ceremony and Gala Event in Washington, D.C. on June 18-21, 2012.  This year the student body at Eau Gallie participated in several service projects and logged over 31,000 hours which is over a $651,000 financial impact to the community.

Six students from the Eau Gallie High Jefferson Committee Students in Action and three chaperones plan to fly to Washington, D.C., on Monday, June 18, and return on Thursday, June 21.  The total cost per student/chaperone will be $870 which includes transportation, lodging, food, and admission to the events.  The group will stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Washington, D.C.  The students are conducting fundraising activities, and they are receiving donations from their business partners.  There will be no cost to the District.

 



Recommendation
Approve the trip request by Eau Gallie High School for students to participate in the Jefferson Awards National Ceremony and Gala Event in Washington, D.C., on June 18-21, 2012.
