Agenda Item #27
Cocoa High School - Award of Bid
Plant Operations and Maintenance has identified that the tracks at Cocoa High School and Satellite High School are the District's priorities for resurfacing this year.
Based on the design by Allen Engineering under their continuing contract for civil engineering design services, bids were requested from the District's continuing services general contractors under RFP#13-P-039 KR. Three bids were received. The low bid was from Doug Wilson Enterprises, Inc. in the amount of $276,872, which includes add alternate #1 to add an outside curb around the track. Curbs provide edge protection for the track, which is one of the common failure points, especially when regularly traversed by vehicles. Bid alternates were requested for additional items that may be funded through School Initiated Projects(s)(potentially including a District match). If funded, these would be incorporated by change order:
Authorization to implement the change orders is requested if funding is available through the school initiated project process because the construction will be ongoing throughout the summer and may not align with the summer Board meeting schedule.
Project administration and permitting costs are budgeted at $10,000.
Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000.
Approve the total project construction budget of $286,872 for the resurfacing of the Cocoa High School track.
Award the project to the low bidder, Doug Wilson Enterprises, Inc. in the amount of $276,872.
Authorize change orders to add alternates through the School Initiated Project process to be ratified by the Board as required.
