Agenda Item #28
Upgrades to Fuel Management System - Construction Management Services
The District's automated fueling system (diesel and gasoline) is obsolete and unserviceable. The system was purchased sometime in the early 1990s and the original companies have long been out of business. A subsequent vendor, Fuel Guard, has advised that they will no longer support our fueling system with software or hardware replacement parts. Currently, the seven remaining original systems have failed to the point that a staff member must report to the fueling location and manually activate the machines and record the fuel transactions on paper. This is very inefficient, consumes labor hours and limits fueling to regular operating hours.
Canaveral Construction, Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) under their continuing contract for construction management services to upgrade the fuel management system at seven locations in an amount not to exceed $164,790. Administrative costs are estimated at $1,500.
Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. In order to expedite the work, approval is requested as a consent item without prior information.
