Cocoa High Football Team - Field Trips to the Rally at the Wolvarena Football Classic in Pittsburg, PA and the Florida VS Texas Football Classic in Dallas, TX

Discussion
The Cocoa High Football team received two special invitations to participate in out of state football games. The team will consist of approximately 35-40 students and 16 adult chaperones. All chaperones are finger-printed through the district, ten of which are district employees and the remainder are district cleared volunteer coaches. The first game is a part of the Rally at the Wolvarena Football Classic in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This event is being sponsored by USA Today. The second game is part of the Florida VS Texas High School Football Classic in Dallas, TX. This event is being sponsored by NIKE. Both events will provide the students with opportunities for access to college scholarships as well as experiences at out of state colleges. These will be regular season games at NO EXPENSE to the students, program, school or district. FHSAA has been involved in the scheduling of the games. Students will be traveling via Sleeper Bus to Pittsburgh, PA and will only miss one (1) day of school to participate in that event. For the trip to Dallas, TX students will travel by air and will miss two (2) days of school. Coaches representing teachers in all core subjects will schedule a time for all school work to be completed with any necessary tutoring. THERE WILL BE NO COST TO THE DISTRICT.

Recommendation
Approve the request for the Cocoa High School Football Team, approximately 35-40 students and 16 adults, to attend the Rally at the Wolvarena Football Classic in Pittsburgh, PA on Thursday, September 2nd (after school) through Sunday, September 5th, 2010. Students will miss one (1) day of school on Friday, September 3rd. Approve the request for the Cocoa High School Football Team, approximately 35-40 students and 16 adults, to attend the Florida vs Texas Football Classic in Dallas, TX on Thursday, September 9th through Sunday, September 12th. Students will miss two (2) days of school on September 9th and 10th.
