05-25-2010 Special School Board Meeting
Agenda Item #7

Title
Recognition of Eau Gallie High School's Designation as an AVID National Demonstration School

Discussion
On April 22, 2010, Eau Gallie High School became the 1st high school in Florida and the entire southeast United States to be named an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) National Demonstration Site.  This distinction has been awarded to less than 3% of all AVID schools world-wide and Eau Gallie High staff and students are proud to have achieved this honor.  We would like to recognize Principal Tom Sawyer, Site Coordinator Betsy Armstrong, AVID teacher Courtney Lundy, Eau Gallie High staff and students tonight by presenting them with a plaque to commemorate this impressive designation.

Recommendation
Present a plaque commemorating Eau Gallie High School's achievement of AVID National Demonstration School status to Tom Sawyer, principal, Betsy Armstrong, AVID Site Coordinator, and Courtney Lundy, AVID teacher.
