Agenda Item #48
Continue to Levy an Additional 0.25 Mills for the Operating Fund
During last years legislative session, Florida Statute 1011.71(3)(b) was amended to allow school districts to levy an additional 0.25 mill for critical needs in either the Operating or Capital Budgets. School Board approval must be by super majority vote in order for the levy to occur. The attached listing (the same as presented at the April 13 Workshop) indicates areas within the operating budget that the 0.25 mill would be earmarked to cover. Please note, however, that this listing is subject to change as the final recommendations on the budget cuts to the operating budget for 2010-11 are completed.
Also note that based on final legislative action the value (as calculated at 96%) has changed as delineated below:
Final recommendation of the Superintendent will be provided to the Board prior to or at the Board meeting.
Continue to levy an additional 0.25 mills to meet critical needs within the Operating Fund.
In addition, authorize the Superintendent to continue to transfer another 0.25 mills, as authorized and appropriated by the Legislature, from the Capital Projects Fund to the Operating Fund.
