Agenda Item #25
Provider Contracts for Title I Private School Services
NCLB provides for consultation between the district and participating private schools to determine the most appropriate type of service to be provided for Title I students in each private school. The participating private schools for FY10 will be Ascension Catholic, Diamond Community, Divine Mercy, Friendship Christian, Holy Name of Jesus Catholic, Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Saviour's Catholic, RFM Christian Academy, St. Joseph's Catholic, St. Mary's Catholic, and St. Teresa's Catholic School. In addition, Calvary Chapel Academy, New Hope Lutheran Academy, Rising Star Academy, and Shiloh Christian Academy have made application and will in all likelihood also participate in FY10. The participating schools have elected to contract for tutorial services from a menu of service providers approved by the district. These providers are Catapult Learning, Hidden Potentials, Huntington Learning, Indialantic Tutoring, and Smart Teacher-Smart Kid. Each private school selects one or more providers, and the district must enter into a contract with each company. The providers deliver small-group tutoring to eligible students. The amount of tutoring and the amount of each contract are determined by each school's earned Title I allocation. The estimated total for the FY10 contracts is $143,960.00, which covers instruction, supervision, materials, and student performance evaluation. The total is tentative until receipt of the district's final Title I Part A allocation. Each contract may be amended if additional funds become available during the year. Approval of this recommendation authorizes the Superintendent to sign contracts with individual providers on behalf of the School Board. No substantive changes have been made to the contract since last year.
Approve the FY10 contracts with private providers for Title I services in private schools, and authorize the Superintendent to sign such contracts on behalf of the School Board.
