Agenda Item #50

Title
Contracted Services Agreement with Ready Bodies, Learning Minds

Discussion

Ready Bodies, Learning Minds is a school-based motor-lab program created to support the developmental, motor, sensory and academic growth of students.  It is a proactive, research-based strategy/curriculum that addresses primary movement patterns (reflex development/integration) which are a key component to preacademic/academic success.  This program will be presented to 60 Prekindergarten (non-VPK) Teachers, 50 Occupational Therapists, and an Early Childhood School Training Team from a Pilot school, for two In-Service training days on September 14 (Professional Development Day) and September 15, 2009.

To accommodate this program, the proposed training site is the Cocoa Beach Hilton.  Classroom substitutes will be needed for the training on September 15.  This exciting professional development initiative will be supported by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009 (ARRA).

Recommendation

To approve the Contracted Services Agreement with Ready Bodies, Learning Minds to conduct a two-day In-Service to 120 Brevard Public Schools instructional staff on each of the two days.
