Recommend the Approval of the Five Year Renewal Charter Contract for River's Edge Charter School
Florida State Statutes dictate that the terms and conditions for the operation of a charter school shall be set forth by the Sponsor and the applicant in a written contractual agreement, called a charter. The Board agreed to renew the charter contract for River's Edge for an additional five years on March 14, 2006 based on the completion of nine (9) contingencies. Attachment 1 provides a synopsis of the actions River's Edge has taken to be in compliance.
River's Edge is formally requesting to change the location of the charter school. Attachment 2 reflects the proposed location of the new facility to be built by Imagine Schools, Management Company. The proposed facility is in close proximity to the current River's Edge location and should have minimal impact on student enrollment. River's Edge has presented written confirmation regarding its intent to transport current students to the new school facility.
In addition, the School is requesting to change the name of the school from River's Edge Charter Academy to Imagine Schools of West Brevard. The School's Governing Board has approved the changing of the name.
A copy of the negotiated charter contract may be found in Attachment 3.
