Reappoint School Board Representatives to Three (3) Local Planning Agencies and Appoint One (1) Representative for the Town of Melbourne Beach
The Brevard County Interlocal Agreement for Public School Facility Planning and School Concurrency, in accordance with Florida Statutes 163.7174-Local Planning Agency, states that "the County and Cities will include a nonvoting representative appointed by the School Board on the local planning agencies...The Cities and County may at their discretion grant voting status to the appointed School Board Member". Three of the individuals noted in the recommendation below have expressed their desire to continue serving the interests of Brevard's students.
The School Board has, until now, not recommended a representative to the Planning & Zoning Board of the Town of Melbourne Beach. Just recently, a volunteer has stepped forward. Priscilla DeNino is a graduate of William Paterson University in New Jersey with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Currently, Priscilla works as a First Grade teacher at Gemini Elementary. She has lived in Brevard County for 25 years, and in Melbourne Beach for the last ten with her husband and two sons. She has served as a volunteer in the school system and as the Secretary and then President elect for BACUS (Brevard Association for Children Under Six). She is also the owner of The Learning Tree Preschool in Palm Bay, opened in 1989. Foe enjoyment and relaxation, she read and goes to the beach.
Reappoint Ms. Loretta Goggin as the School Board Representative to the Local Planning Agency of the City of Melbourne for another one year term commencing June 16, 2008 and ending June 15, 2009.
Reappoint Ms. Sherrie D'Amato as the School Board Representative to the Local Planning Agency of the City of Satellite Beach for another one year term commencing June 16, 2008 and ending June 15, 2009.
Reappoint Mr. John Chambers as the School Board Representative to the Local Planning Agency of the City of Titusville for another one year term commencing June 16, 2008 ending June 15, 2009.
Approve the nomination by School Board Member Amy Kneessy for Priscilla DeNino to serve as the School Board's Representative to the Melbourne Beach Planning & Zoning Board. This one year tern would commence June 16, 2008 and expire June 15, 2009.
