Indialantic Elementary School Pavilion Structural Repairs - General Contractor Services

Discussion

The protective coating has failed on the structural steel members that support the pavilion to the point that rust is present throughout the structure which has raised safety concerns. The project includes repair to the pavilion's supporting columns, bracing and fasteners; replacement of 10 purlins; replacement of all wind cables and sandblasting/painting the roof deck.

Similar projects are currently underway at several schools throughout the District.  Droor & Associates provided the design for this project.

Quotes were solicited and received from the District's Continuing Services General Contractors under RFP# 13-P-039-KR. C & D Construction provide the lowest responsive and responsible lump sum quote at $63,156. The total project cost including  design, construction, administration, permitting and inspections is $71,156.

Funding is budgeted in the FY 2014-15 Capital Fund for the project.

Board approval is required for a purchase order over $25,000.  In order to expedite this work, approval is requested as a consent agenda item without prior information.



Recommendation

Approve the total project budget for the repairs to the pavilion at Indialantic Elementary School in the amount of $71,156.

Approve the quote submitted by C & D Construction under their Continuing Contract for General Contractor Services for the pavilion repair at Indialantic Elementary School in the amount of $63,156.
