Title 1, Part D Prevention and Intervention Programs for children and Youth who are Neglected, Delinquent, or At Risk
The Federal entitlement application described below is being prepared for online submission to the Florida Department of Education by June 30, 2015 and is a preliminary allocation. This entitlement provides supplemental services and support to the following programs: Brevard Regional Juvenile Detention Center, Frances Walker Halfway House, Brevard Group Treatment Home, Hacienda Girls Ranch and Melbourne Center for Personal Growth. The grant supports a Literacy Coach, Instructional Assistant, and Technology Associate. In addition, the grant supports technology hardware/upgrades, professional development to ensure staff are highly qualified, delivery of secondary and post secondary academic and career coursework, GED test prep and test administration fees, supplemental materials to improve reading and math skills, fees associated with web-based school course offerings, and transition services.
With permission, the application will be signed by the Superintendent and mailed to the Florida Department of Education to meet the June 30, 2015 grant deadline. Upon award, a "Consent after Information" agenda item will be submitted for Board approval at a subsequent meeting.
