Atlantis Elementary School - Chiller Replacement - HVAC Mechanical Contractor Services
An Emergency Purchase Order was issued to Carrier Commercial Services on May 6, 2015 (ratified by the Board May 26, 2015) to replace the failed chiller at Atlantis Elementary School, based on a design provided by DDC Engineering, Inc. under their continuing services contract with the District.
Project Management staff solicited bids from the District's continuing services contract for HVAC mechanical services. Schwenn Services was recommended by DDC Engineering, Inc. as lowest responsive and responsible bidder at $84,238.80. The total additional project cost for construction, administration, permitting and inspections is $95,238.80. Design and chiller procurement are already budgeted/funded in the amount of $106,842.
The chiller was not included on the funded sales tax list for Atlantis because it was rated condition code 3 at the time of the assessment. Consequently, the project is funded through budgeted Capital Funds. However, the ICOC was advised of the chiller failure at their April meeting and staff will request ICOC review for sales tax funding at their June meeting.
Board approval is required for a purchase order over $25,000.00. In order to expedite the work, approval is required without prior information.
Approve the additional project budget for Atlantis Elementary School HVAC chiller replacement project in the amount of $95,238.80.
Approve the bid submitted by Schwenn Services under their Continuing Contract for HVAC Mechanical Services for the project in the amount of $84,238.80.
