Discussion

The Federal entitlement application described below is being prepared for online submission to the Florida Department of Education by June 30, 2012 and is a preliminary allocation.

Title I, Part D Prevention and Intervention Programs for Children and Youth who are Neglected, Delinquent, or At Risk

This entitlement provides supplemental services and support to the following programs:  Brevard Regional Juvenile Detention Center, AMIkids-Frances Walker Halfway House, AMIkids-Brevard Group Treatment Home, AMIkids-Space Coast Marine, Hacienda Girl's Ranch, and Country Acres.  The grant supports a Literacy Coach, Instructional Assistant, technology hardware, software and access, Professional Development, transition services, in/out county travel associated with job responsibilities, GED test prep and test administration fees, supplemental material to improve reading and math skills, fees associated with virtual school course offerings, furniture and fixtures and reimbursement to staff for acquiring Highly Qualified status.



Recommendation

Approve the district's entitlement application for Title I, Part D Prevention and Intervention Programs for Children and Youth who are Neglected, Delinquent, or At Risk.  There are no programmatic budget changes.
