Agenda Item #27
Early Head Start Replacement Grantee - Brevard County, Florida
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is looking for a grantee to provide a continuation of Early Head Start program services previously provided by the former grantee, Childcare Association of Brevard County, Inc. The Early Head Start program must provide direct or through referral, early, continuous, intensive and comprehensive child development and parent support services. Early Head Start provides services for infants, toddlers and pregnant women. The former grantee (Childcare Association of Brevard County, Inc.) was funded for a total enrollment of 120 infants, toddlers and pregnant women. This grant will expand access to quality early childhood programs and services for stakeholders and increase the district's capacity to increase current program offerings.
There is a local education agency required match from state, local or other funding sources. The specific percentage of funds that must be contributed is 20% of the total approved cost of the project. The identified match will not create additional spending from local funds as this requirement will be satisfied through in-kind services and existing budgeted expenses which are not state or federally mandated.
