Rockledge High School - Architectural Engineering Services - SALES SURTAX


In order to be ready for the summer 2017 and summer 2018 construction season, staff is initiating work on the Design Criteria Packages for the year 3 projects. This is the first step in the design build procurement process. The DCP, which is required by Florida Statute 287.055, provides a basic framework of requirements for the services required.  For projects over $2 million, the District issues a competitive Request for Proposals and design build firms respond based on the DCP but may have differing approaches and costs. The proposals are evaluated by a selection committee who recommends the best value to the Board. For projects under $2 million, the staff typically uses one of the continuing services design build firms already under contract.

The Design Criteria Professional is also required to provide assistance in contractor selection and construction administration in order to represent the District's interest throughout the project.

OCI Associates, Inc. has submitted a proposal under their continuing contract for architectural and engineering services for the preparation of the DCP and related services for Rockledge High School facility renewal in an amount not to exceed $59,920. Estimated administrative costs are $3,000.

School Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. Approval is requested as a consent agenda item in order to expedite the work.

Information purchase orders under $50,000 will be issued for the DCP and related services for Croton Elementary, Williams Elementary, Cocoa High, MILA Elementary and Creel Elementary. Work is already underway at Southwest Middle, Lewis Carroll Elementary, Coquina Elementary and Golfview Elementary, all of which were started early due to critical equipment failures. Construction projects may be combined in groups of 1-4 schools for efficiency.



Approve the total project budget for Rockledge High School facility renewal DCP services in the amount not to exceed $63,920.

Approve the proposal submitted by OCI Associates, Inc. in the amount not to exceed $59,920 for the Rockledge High School DCP.
