Minutes:

Regarding the approval of Delta Dental as the provider for employee dental benefits, Mrs. Henderson wanted communication sent to personnel very quickly letting them know Delta Dental would not cover student dependents over the age of 19.

Mr. Craig asked for the Board to receive, on an ongoing basis, the percentage of our procurement services that are sourced from diversity suppliers. He said that Florida Statute 287 lays out some very specific guidelines in this area.

Dr. Blackburn expressed that he and Ed Parker, director of Purchasing Services, have already had a couple of conversations as to whether or not as a system, we are making a concerted effort under NWBE to ensure that we are doing business across the board with minorities, veterans and women. He further commented that if it pleased the Board, he would like to take that and run with it, not only from a reporting standpoint, but also to reach out  to assess where we currently stand and to improve our effort in that space. Mr. Craig said yes that is where we need to go and he would love to see a strategy.

Regarding the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts accessing classrooms, Ms. Belford said we need to ensure that if we tell parents that we are opting their students out of those presentations, that we absolutely are opting those students out of those presentations. She said this needs to be across the organization in other aspects as well.

Dr. Blackburn said he will work with Mrs. Cline and Dr. Rhinehart to get that communication out to principals.
