Due to time constraints, this item is being submitted to only one board meeting for Consent Without Prior Information. The Eau Gallie High School Technology Student Association (TSA) was recognized as the #3 Outstanding School in the state out of 31 schools. The Eau Gallie TSA competed at the Florida State TSA Conference and Competitions on April 29-May 2, 2009. Thomas Scholz, Advisor, and four students (three females and one male) have been invited to participate in the National Conference in Denver, Colorado on June 28 - July 2, 2009. Eau Gallie TSA students will travel with the Southwest Middle School TSA team, along with their two advisors and chaperones. The teams will leave on June 28, 2009 and return on July 2, 2009 via Southwest Airlines. Both teams will lodge at the Crowne Plaza Denver Hotel. Becky Allen, Advisor for the Southwest Middle School team, will serve as chaperone for Eau Gallie's three female students. The total cost per person is approximately $573.00, plus meals ( $333 for air fare, $90 for the conference fee and $150 for lodging). However, the air fare for all four Eau Gallie High School students will be paid for by an outside sponsor, the West of Eau Gallie Civic Association. Students will be responsible for their own meal expenses. The majority of the remainder of the costs associated with the trip will be financed through donations and fund-raising activities scheduled during the month of May and the first part of June. The Office of Career and Technical Education will fund Mr. Scholz's trip. A tentative competitive events schedule and hotel information is attached. The trip will take place over summer break; therefore, no instructional days will be missed.
