Agenda Item #56

Title
Consultant Agreement - Endeavour Elementary - Susan Pearson - Highly Effective Teaching

Discussion

Susan Pearson is a recognized Highly Effective Teaching (HET, formerly known as ITI-Integrated Thematic Instruction) consultant and coach.  Her efforts and commitment with the Susan Kovalik, ITI model resulted in the LIFESKILL book, Tools for Citizenship and Life:  Using the ITI Lifelong Guidelines and LIFESKILLS in Your Classroom.     Using the principle:  intelligence is a function of experience, she will provide training that will expand our teachers' ability to provide a higher quality of hands-on math instruction and increase their use and knowledge of engagement strategies through highly effective teaching and questioning strategies.  Follow-up activities will include incorporating the strategies gained from the professional development activities into teachers' lesson planning and teaching.  Implementation of these strategies is intended to assist in improving FCAT and AYP scores.  Improved student performance on the 2010 FCAT and teacher data will be used to measure the effectiveness of this program.

This training for Endeavour faculty will take place over three days, from July 27 through July 29, 2009 at Endeavour.  This training will support our faculty as they prepare for the 2009-2010 school year and the 2010 FCAT.
