Field Trip - Merritt Island High FBLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA

Discussion

Merritt Island High student, Daniel Schra, placed 1st in Business Calculations in the Florida Future Business Leaders of America competition, therefore advancing to the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA on June 25-29, 2009.  The FBLA Sponsor, Karen Forbes and his mother, Ms. Donna Gallagher, will accompany him on the trip.  They will travel by air leaving on June 25 and returning on June 29.  They will stay at the Anaheim Marriott.   Career and Technical Education's Federal Perkins grant will pay for the sponsor's expenses.  MIHS FBLA will contribute approximately $400 toward Daniel's expenses and donations (currently $300 as well as a $250 prize for winning state) have been received and are continuing to come in to assist with the remainder of his expenses for the trip. 

We are asking that this item be presented only once because of the time constraint due to only one board meeting for the month of June.



Recommendation
Approve the request for one Merritt Island High student, his mother and the sponsor to attend the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA on June 25-29, 2009.  No school days will be missed.
