2008-09 Agreement with Brevard Achievement Center (BAC) to Serve Exceptional Education Students

Discussion

This agreement is a continuing collaboration with the Brevard Achievement Center (BAC).  The purpose of this agreement is to: 

  • Increase the number of exceptional education students who graduate (exit with a diploma).
  • Obtain gainful employment through the provision of career exploration activities at the middle and secondary school level.  These schools have been selected to implement various career activities.
  • Assist eligible students with mild and moderate disabilities in high school with unpaid, paid employment opportunities.
  • Do student intake, assessment, job readiness training, job development, job coaching and follow-along services.

Funding for this agreement is from Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).  This is an ongoing district initiative to prepare exceptional education students for future employment.



Recommendation

Approve the Agreement with the Brevard Achievement Center (BAC) to provide services to eligible ESE students in the amount not to exceed $ 335,728.00 for the school year beginning July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009.
