Agenda Item #43
Student Fees for Driver Education Program
Due to rising costs for the delivery of the driver education program in our schools, it is necessary to raise the student lab fee for driver education from $40 to $100. These funds will be used for the purchase and maintenance of vehicles, fuel, tags, the issuance of driver's licenses, and related materials and supplies for all driver education lab activities. The current student fee for driver education in summer without credit is $120. In addition, an example of the cost in the private sector is $385/student. The increased funding ($100/student) would provide $301,700 as opposed to the current funding ($40/student) $120,680 or a difference of $181,020.
Approve the increase in driver education lab fees to $100/student effective the 2008-09 school year.
