Certified Board Distinction

Discussion

The Brevard County School Board was named a Certified Board by the Florida School Boards Association at their Annual Spring Conference, held June 13-15, 2012, in Tampa. Brevard County School Board is one of only 12 school boards in Florida to currently hold this prestigious award.

The Certified Board Distinction is awarded to Florida school boards where a majority of individual school board members have earned Certified Board Member recognition. Certified Board Member recognition requires completion of 96 hours of training in 12 curricular areas. Once this has been achieved, to maintain active status, each board members must complete an additional 18 hours of training each year.

Board members Karen Henderson, Amy Kneessy and Andy Ziegler have qualified the Brevard County School Board to earn the Certified Board Distinction by each earning and actively maintaining their Certified Board Member Distinction.
