Title
Title II, Part A Grant Application

Discussion

The primary goal of this entitlement grant is to increase student academic achievement through strategies such as: improving teacher and principal quality, increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in the classroom, as well as highly qualified principals and assistant principals in schools.  Teacher and principal trainings will be aligned  with the state content standards, which correlate with the district strategic imperatives designed to deliver scientifically based research programs in an effort to contribute to closing the achievement gap.  The major activities include providing professional development  opportunities for teachers and principals in all core academic areas and leadership to improve student achievement.

Recommendation
Approve the 2011-2012 district entitlement grant application for Title II, part A.
