Florida Educational Equity Act Annual Update -- 2010-2011
The District is required to submit a Florida Educational Equity Act Update for 2010-2011 in compliance with the Florida Educational Equity Act, Section 1000.05, F. S. (formerly Section 228.2001, F. S.), Florida Statutes and Chapter 6A-19, Rules 1-10, Florida Administrative Code.
For 2010-2011, districts will continue to focus on enrollment in 8th grade Algebra I, Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Enrollment (DE), Honors, and other Level 3 courses. The districts should evaluate progress over the last five-year period, from 2006-07 to 2010-11. For AP, DE, Honors and Level 3 courses, data will be analyzed by race overall and specifically for Black and Hispanic males. The districts will also continue to analyze their employment data and develop, implement and submit targeted methods and strategies to address any underrepresentation to diversify the administrative and instructional workforce. Districts will report the number and type of single-gender schools operating in the district, and the number and type of single-gender classes offered at co-educational schools. Districts will also submit board-approved policies and procedures for the following:
*Policy of Nondiscrimination and Notification of Policy
*Identification and Notification of Equity Coordinator(s)
*Grievance and Complaint Procedure(s)
The document as approved by the School Board is due to the Department of Education, Office of Equal Educational Opportunity by July 31, 2011.
