Agenda Item #14

Title
2015-16 Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Grant

Discussion
On February 17, 2015, The Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) submitted an application for the 2015-16 Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) grant to the Florida Department of Agriculture for the following schools: Cambridge Elementary, Endeavour Elementary and Saturn Elementary. As a reminder, the original application came before the Board on February 10, 2015. We are pleased to report that all three schools have been selected to participate in this program which has a grant time frame of July 1, 2015 - June 30, 2016. Funding is estimated at $110,000 and does not require a grant match. FNS will be attending a training workshop via webinar which will cover all the requirements for operating this program. FNS will partner with Cambridge, Endeavour and Saturn Elementary schools to insure all criteria for successfully operating the FFVP are met throughout the school year.

Recommendation
Accept the grant for Cambridge, Endeavour and Saturn Elementary schools to participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) for the 2015-16 school year.
