Additional Relocatable Classrooms at Cocoa High School


Two (2) additional relocatable classrooms have been requested at Cocoa High School for the 2014-15 school year.

These relocatable classrooms were not included in the 2014-15 Student Accommodation Plan in order to verify the need based on student enrollment data.  When the need was verified, separate purchase orders totaling $20,213.74 were issued to vendors under their continuing contracts for moving and tie-down services to relocate two surplus units from Enterprise Elementary School.  The issuance of separate purchase orders was necessary to avoid scheduling conflicts with other customers.

Canaveral Construction Company, Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) under their Continuing  Contract for Construction Management Services in the amount of $57,533.50 based upon Design Criteria developed by District Staff to complete the installation of these two units.  The budget for the GMP, administration, permitting, inspections, and contingency cost is $63,110.00.

The Total Project Budget, including the previously issued purchase orders, is $83,323.74.

Adequate funding has been identified and budgeted in the FY2014-15 Capital Funds for the cost of this Project.

Cocoa High School was closed to outgoing out-of-area students at the high school level as an exception to Policy 7120 in the 2014-15 Student Accommodation Plan.  This exception is no longer necessary.

Board Approval is required for a Purchase Order over $25,000.  In order to expedite this work, approval is requested as a Consent Agenda item without previous information.

Approve a Total Project Budget of $83,323.74 for the installation of two additional relocatable classrooms at Cocoa High School.

Approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) submitted by Canaveral Construction Company, Inc. under their Continuing Contract for Construction Management Services in the amount of $57,533.50 to complete the installation of the two additional relocatable classrooms.

Approve a modification to the 2014-15 Student Accommodation Plan to open Cocoa High School to outgoing out-of-area students in conformance with Policy 7120.
