Agenda Item #15
School Bus Routes 2013-2014
The Transportation Division will begin the 2013-14 school year operating 32 (9%) fewer bus routes than compared to the beginning of this past school year. The beginning of the 2012-13 school year required Transportation to operate 393 routes and in comparison will begin the 2013-14 school year with 361 routes. This 9% reduction in routes is a direct result of the School Board's unanimous vote to eliminate corridor busing, inclusive of the instructional academics and dual enrollment (not including the Collegiate High School program), beginning with the 2013-14 school year. The reduction of the 32 routes is projected to save the District $1,200,000 and was a key component of the list of Proposed Budget Cuts and Revenue Enhancements, also adopted by the School Board.
The table below represents the projected school bus routes for the 2013-14 school year. Once the school year begins and numbers stabilize, the Board will be updated on the actual numbers.
Approve the projected 361 bus routes by area for the school year 2013-2014.
