Agenda Item #37
Job Description - Accounting Specialitst III - Head Start
Head Start, unlike other federal programs, is administered directly by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services rather than at the state level. Routine program operations, particularly fiscal decisions, require approval from the Region IV Office of Head Start in Atlanta, GA. This presents a challenge in managing the program budge and fiscal monitoring requirements. The addition of an Accounting Specialist III for Head Start will improve management of the program budget, with this person working under the direction of the Early Childhood/Title I director. The Accounting Specialist III position will be fully funded using Head Start funds.
Recommend the addition of Accounting Specialist III to the Head Start program to meet budgetary and fiscal monitoring and reporting requirements.
