Agenda Item #24
Demolish Building 10 at Satellite High School
Building 10 at Satellite High School is a 200 square foot Observatory constructed in 1972. It is no longer in use. It is not economically feasible to address existing water intrusion damage, structural issues and code deficiencies in order to make the structure suitable for occupancy. The Satellite High School staff has requested that the structure be demolished as part of the current Additions and Renovations Project.
The Brevard Schools Foundation has collected approximately $11,000 in donations to repair the structure. The Satellite High School staff will contact all of the donors and either return the money or arrange for its reallocation to an alternate educational use.
A site plan of the proposed Satellite High School campus with Building 10 highlighted is attached for reference.
No additional funds are required for this item -- sufficient Contingency exists within the Design/Builder's Guaranteed Maximum Price to fund this work.
Approve the demolition of Building 10 at Satellite High School at a cost not to exceed $5,000.
