Agenda Item #7
Proclaim September 2011 as Proud To Be An American Month
September affords several opportunities to commemorate the ideals upon which our Nation was founded, such as Constitution Day and Celebrate Freedom Week. Schools are encouraged to observe Patriot Day (September 11), the federally-required Constitution Day (September 17), and Celebrate Freedom Week (September 26 through September 30) during this month with student programs and activities. During September, schools may emphasize the character traits of patriotism, trustworthiness, respect, fairness, caring, and good citizenship.
Adopt a resolution proclaiming the month of September as Proud To Be An American Month.
