Agenda Item #20
Reappoint School Board Representative to the Cocoa Beach Local Planning Agency
The Brevard County Interlocal Agreement for Public School Facility Planning and School Concurrency, in accordance with Florida Statutes 163.3174 - Local Planning Agency, states that "Each Municipality and County shall include a representative of the School District appointed by the School Board as a nonvoting member of the local planning agencies. However, this subsection does not prevent the governing body of the local government from granting voting status to the School Board Member." The individual noted in the recommendation below has expressed a desire to continue to serve the interests of Brevard's students as the School Board's representative to the Cocoa Beach Local Planning Agency. At the Capital Outlay Committee meeting on October 15, 2015, the Members recommended that the School Board representative be appointed to the same term length as the other local planning agency members. The Cocoa Beach LPA members all serve a maximum 4 year term that is concurrent with the nominating Commissioner's elected term. In order to be consistent with the Cocoa Beach term length, this reappointment is proposed to continue concurrent with the sponsoring School Board member's term which is currently until November 6, 2018.
Reappoint Mr. Jack Rood as the School Board Representative to the Cocoa Beach Local Planning Agency for a term commencing on August 26th, 2016 and ending on November 6, 2018. Sponsoring School Board Member: Mr. John Craig, District 2.
