Agenda Item #7

Title
Proclamation Declaring September, 2016, Proud To Be An American Month

Discussion
September affords several opportunities to commemorate the ideals upon which our Nation was founded, such as Constitution Day and Celebrate Freedom Week. Schools are encouraged to observe Patriot Day, the state-mandated Celebrate Freedom Week, and the federally-required Constitution Day during this month with student programs and activities. Additionally, schools may emphasize the character traits of patriotism, trustworthiness, respect, fairness, caring, and good citizenship.
