Title
2016 Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership and Outstanding Assistant Principal Achievement Award

Discussion

The Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership and the Outstanding Assistant Principal Achievement Award were established in 1988 to recognize exemplary principals and assistant principals for their contributions to their schools and communities. The programs honor principals and assistant principals that have spearheaded initiatives to increase student performance, promote safe learning environments, and establish partnerships with parents and community members.

Joining us for the recognition will be Dr. Richard Dunkel, President and Gary Shiffrin, Executive Director of Brevard Association of School Administrators, along with Deborah Blair, Meredith Gibson and David Brock from Community Credit Union  who will present each winner with a check from the wonderful and generous school district business partners.

Winners and nominees are:

Rachad Wilson, Principal at Endeavour Elementary School is this year's Principal of the Year. Rachad began as a teacher with BPS at Endeavour Elementary in 2002 and moved on to Merritt Island High School in 2003. He became an Assistant Principal at Cocoa High School in 2007, and he was appointed Principal at Endeavour Elementary in 2011. Since becoming Principal, Mr. Wilson has lead the school with an emphasis on student learning as a priority. As a leader, Rachad strives to reach every teacher, every day, as he recognizes the impact of his work with teachers on the children they serve.

His nomination for this award described his work: "Mr. Wilson has created an environment at Endeavour Elementary that is based on respect, achievable goals, and personal efficacy. He has led his school to steadily increasing achievement gains while transforming the overall environment."

Congratulations Rachad Wilson!

Meara Trine, Assistant Principal at Jackson Middle School is this year's Assistant Principal of the Year. Meara started her career with BPS as a teacher at Riverview Elementary in 2004 and moved to Cocoa High School in 2010.
