Merritt Island High Cheer Squad trip to Columbia, SC

Merritt Island High School cheer squad is requesting permission to attend and perform in the University of South Carolina vs. University of Central Florida game in Columbia, SC.  Approximately 4-7 female students will be attending.  This is the fourth consecutive year that the cheerleaders have performed as part of a combined group made up of schools from around the nation under the direction of World Stride Performance Program.  This group of girls has also performed for two years at the University of Central Florida halftime show.  The two chaperones traveling with the group are both Brevard County employees.  One is a teacher at Tropical Elementary school and the other is a certified substitute and both are properly fingerprinted with the District.  The cheerleaders will travel to, and within, Columbia, SC by private vehicles provided by and driven by their parents.  The students will be staying at a local hotel, a Marriott Residence Inn.  The trip will be funded by the parents.  There will be no cost to the District.  The trip is planned for September 26-27, 2015.  No school days will be missed as this is a weekend trip.
