Agenda Item #19
Replacement of Thermal Energy Storage Plant at Cocoa High School
The Thermal Energy Storage plant at Cocoa High School was decommissioned several years ago due to the aging of the ice tanks and the leaking of glycol into the ice container. This project is to have new ice tanks installed, several components of the plant refurbished, the existing glycol disposed of in accordance with applicable laws, and have the plant re-commissioned. It is expected that the energy savings from the project will be about $78,000 annually, resulting in a 2.2 year payback, after FPL rebate.
The new ice tanks for the project were purchased with Board approval given on July 23rd.
The installation portion of the project was bid using the Continuing Mechanical contract RFP #12005/JO.
