Harbor City Elementary - Additional Construction Management Services - SALES SURTAX
The Board approved a construction management contract with Canaveral Construction, Inc. in May 2018 for restroom renovations to address Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) issues. The ADA scope was funded through capital funds allocated to ADA projects. A pre-design allowance of $25,000 was included in the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) proposal to replace the failing air conditioning unit for the media center as an out-of-sequence sales surtax project.
During construction a change order was issued to address sidewalk that was not compliant with the ADA standards in the amount of $24,802.61 funded through capital funds allocated to ADA projects.
The pricing for the media center air conditioning unit exceeded the $25,000 allowance by $11,127.91. The work was bid among 3 subcontractors and all were above the allowance. The lowest bid was accepted.
School Board ratification is required per Policy 6340 when the total aggregate cost of the changes exceed $50,000 or 10%.
Ratify Change Order #1 ($24,802.61 sidewalk ADA ramps) and Change Order #2 ($11,127.91 media center AC net additional cost over allowance) utilizing capital funds for ADA improvements and facility renewal sales surtax.
