Agenda Item #19
Oak Park Elementary School - Roof Top Ventilators - Construction Management Services - SALES SURTAX
The warranty review and close out process for the initial Oak Park HVAC project indicated the need to replace additional roof top ventilators for improved system operation and because the existing intakes had reached the end of their useful life. TLC, as the engineer of record for the project, provided a revision to the plans for this addition.
Canaveral Construction, Inc., has been the contractor at Oak Park for the projects in summer 2015 and summer 2016. They have submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price not to exceed $58,323 under their continuing contract for construction management services. Administrative and permitting expenses are estimated at $1,500 for a total project budget of $59,823. This is an eligible sales surtax expenditure, but will initially be funded with capital funds because the sales surtax budget for Oak Park facility renewal is fully expensed and encumbered. It is expected that all or some of the expense for the unit ventilators can be transferred to the sales surtax once the prior projects are financially closed later this year.
School Board approval is required for a purchase order over $50,000. In order to expedite the work, approval is requested as a consent agenda item without prior information.
