Field Trip - Satellite High Symphonic Orchestra - Orchestra America National Festival - Indianapolis, IN
The Satellite High School Symphonic Orchestra was selected by audition to perform at the 2016 Orchestra America National Festival held in Indianapolis, Indiana, from March 10-12, 2016. Approximately 48 students will attend with 10 chaperones. Two chaperones are the Band Directors and the remainder are parents, with A+ background check status (4 female and 6 male chaperones total).
In addition to their performance, students will also attend performances by other ensembles from around the country and participate in clinics and masterclasses with renowned collegiate faculty members as well as professional musicians from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. The music festival will take place at the Marriott Place Indianapolis Hotel and students will stay on hotel property. Cost of the trip will be $809.00 per student. This total cost includes charter bus, meals, lodging and festival costs. Dynamic Charter Bus Company, an approved BPS vendor, has quoted a price of $8100 for the trip. They cannot give an exact cost until 2016 due to fuel costs. Students will depart Satellite High School at 6:00 am on March 9, 2016 and will return on Monday, March 14 at 1:30am. Students will be required to attend school on March 14 beginning with 4th period. Students will miss 3½ days of school. Students will raise funds to pay for the camp. No student will be denied to participate due to funds. There will be no cost to the district.
