Satellite High School Cross Country Teams to Attend the Great American Cross Country Festival in Hoover, AL
The Boys' and Girls' Cross Country Teams would once again like to participate in one of the most prestigious scholastic meets in the country. Last year's invitation to run in the "NIKE Races of Champions" presented an opportunity that resulted in another rewarding educational experience.
The experience enhances the educational process as our entire class of female and male seniors are now attending college as student athletes. The students (seven boys and seven girls), coach, four male chaperones/parents, and four/parents will be in Hoover, Alabama from October 10, 2008 through October 11, 2008. Transportation will be provided by chaperones' personal vehicles with one rental van driven by the coach.
Costs for the trip have been broken down as follows: (Van - $220.00/6=$36.67, Gas - $275 per vehicle - $45.83, Food - 2 lunches, dinner, breakfast, snack - $35/person, Hotel - $89/4 - $22.25/person.) Total cost per person is $139.75. The trip will be paid for by team and will not require any assistance from the school district. The group will be staying at the LaQuinta Inn and Suites at 120 Riverchase Parkway in Birmingham.
Departure will be at 6:00 a.m. from Satellite High School on Friday, October 10, arriving at approximately 5:00 p.m. The group will leave Birmingham, Alabama at 3:00 p.m. on October 11, 2008, arriving at Satellite High School at approximately 2:00 a.m.
Students will miss one day of school.
