Final Adoption of the 2008-2009 Strategic Plan with Priority Strategies
The School Board participated in a workshop on September 16, 2008 to determine the priority Strategic Plan strategies for 2008-2009. The priority strategies include:
1.1.1 Implement a K-12 comprehensive improvement program for every student scoring below grade level and decrease the achievement gap between minority and majority students on FCAT reading and math by 5% each year.
1.4.3 New By June, 2009, execute unifies communications initiatives that consistently convey news and information to internal and external constituencies, fostering greater understanding of the district.
Safe and Healthy Learning and Work Environment
2.4.6 New By 2013, every Brevard Public School student will be technologically literate be completion of eighth grade.
Capable and Engaged Workforce
3.1.2 Establish compensation and benefits at competitive market levels to attract and retain a quality workforce annually.
Fiscal Responsibility and Financial and Organizational Effectiveness
4.1.6 New By June 30, 2010, enhance controls, reporting, and training related to internal funds, school accounting and district budgets.
In addition, the Board reconsidered and included a strategy for increasing instructional time for students. The new strategy stated below was added to the 2008-2009 Strategic Plan.
1.1.27 The district will increase instructional time for students by 5% by the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year.
Approve the final 2008 - 2009 Strategic Plan, which includes priority strategies.
