Request for Emergency Purchase Order for Relocatable Classrooms for University Park Elementary School

Discussion

Mark Mullins, South Area Superintendent, has requested four (4) relocatable classrooms at University Park Elementary School to relieve over-crowding. 

 

Canaveral Construction has submitted a proposal under their Continuing Contract for Design/Build Services to relocate four (4) surplus relocatable classrooms from Southwest Middle School to University Park Elementary School for a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) of $179,770.00.

 

Funding has been provided from the General Fund for the proposed GMP, administration, permitting, testing, inspection, and contingency costs for a total project budget of $189,100.00. 

 

Board approval is required for a Purchase Order over $25,000.  In order to expedite the work, the Superintendent has approved the issuance of an Emergency Purchase Order pursuant to Florida Statute 1013.46(1)(b), declaring an emergency to relieve overcrowding of students.

Recommendation

Confirm the Superintendent's Emergency Purchase Order.

Approve the addition of four (4) Relocatable Classrooms at University Park Elementary School at a cost not to exceed $189,100.00.

Approve Canaveral Construction as the Design/Builder under Continuing Contract for Design/Build Services for a Guaranteed Maximum Price of $179,770.00.
