09-25-2019 Legislative Luncheon Meeting


The School Board of Brevard County, Florida met with Brevard Legislative Delegates on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, in the media center at Edgewood Jr/Sr. High School located at 180 E. Merritt Avenue, Merritt Island, FL. Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Eagle newspaper on Thursday, September 12, 2019. The affidavit of publication with a copy of the ad attached is filed in the Affidavit File in the Board Office.

Minutes: 

The meeting began at 11:45 a.m.  Matt Reed, Assistant Superintendent of Government and Community Relations, welcomed and thanked everyone present.  He introduced Jackie Ingratta, Principal of Edgewood Jr/Sr. High School and thanked her for generously offering a space for the meeting.

Ms. Ingratta made a few welcoming remarks and introduced some students from the Student Government Association.

Minutes: Legislative delegates discussed foreseeable needs in the future; particularly the need for non-traditional education in order to build a workforce to meet growing manufacturing and technology needs. Each stressed the need for more vocational training.
6. Discussion of BPS Legislative Priorities

Minutes: 

Mr. Reed thanked the delegates once again for their time and support.  He went over the list of the priorities the Board would like to submit.
