2010-11 State Appropriated Equipment Assistance Grants For School Food Authorities (SFAs)
The 2010-11 State Appropriated Equipment Assistance Grants for School Food Authorities (SFAs) provides a one-time appropriation of federal stimulus funds for equipment assistance to SFAs that currently participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). The total funding available is $2,532,907, with the option to redistribute remaining funds. The amount allocated to Brevard County Schools is $40,684, which represents a non-competitive discretionary award. SFAs have been given the opportunity to apply for this grant, and equipment requested must fall into one of the following four focus areas:
The Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) has prioritized their cafeteria needs based on the four focus areas and has prepared a grant application requesting $40,684 in funding for one serving line at each of the following schools: Creel Elementary and Surfside Elementary. Due to the time constraint of the deadline for submission, the Superintendent signed the grant application in order to meet the September 24, 2010 due date. The grant awards will be announced in the coming weeks and funds for procured equipment must be obligated by November 15, 2010 and expended by February 28, 2011. The criteria for the application is attached and a copy of the application is available in the Office of FNS for review.
Approve request to submit an application for the 2010-11 State Appropriated Equipment Assistance Grants for School Food Authorities (SFAs) to the Florida Department of Education, Office of Grants Management in the amount of $40,684.
