Heritage High School Marching Band Trip to Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina
The Heritage High School Marching "Panther" Band is requesting School Board approval to travel to Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on October 30 - November 1, 2015. The band has been invited to participate in the Winston-Salem State University Homecoming Parade, scholarship auditions and awards, football game, special "post-game" performance by the Heritage Band, and campus tour.
Approximately 90 students and 14 chaperones plan to travel by charter bus. The group plans to leave Heritage High School at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, and return at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 1. The group will spend the night of Saturday, October 31, at the LaQuinta Inn in Winston-Salem, NC. No school days will be missed.
The cost for students and chaperones will be $125 per person which will cover the cost of transportation, hotel accommodations, and meals. A scholarship program is in place to cover the cost for students who need financial assistance. Funds for the scholarship program have been raised at four car washes and a donation was received from Florida Institute of Technology. There will be no cost to the District to conduct this trip.
