Field Trip - Cocoa High School FIRST Robotics - FIRST World Championship in St. Louis, Missouri

Discussion

The Cocoa High Robotics Team consisting of approximately 14-20 students and five (5) chaperones is planning to attend the FIRST World Championship in St. Louis, MO April 23-27, 2014.  The five adult chaperones are both male and female.  Two are current Brevard Public Schools employees, two are engineer mentors from NASA Launch Services who are properly fingerprinted with the district and one is a registered volunteer.  The team will travel by plane and will be staying at a FIRST authorized hotel closest to the event.  Students will either walk or take public transportation from the hotel to the Edward Jones Dome.

The trip will be funded by various fundraisers and business partners including NASA Launch Services, QuinetiQ Corporation and Brevard Public Schools.  THERE WILL BE NO COST TO THE DISTRICT.



Recommendation
Approve the request for the Cocoa High Robotics Team, approximately 14-20 students and five (5) chaperones, to attend the FIRST World Championship in St. Louis, Missouri on April 23-27, 2014.  The students will miss three (3) school days.
