Recognize Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) Grant Recipients, 2013-16

Discussion
Brevard Public Schools (BPS) is one of only 27 school districts in 12 states to receive the 2013-16 Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) grant from the U.S. Department of Education.  McNair Magnet Middle, Golfview Elementary Magnet, Stone Magnet Middle, and Palm Bay Magnet High schools are establishing magnet programs around the STEAM theme-Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.  The purpose of the Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) is to support the development and implementation of magnet schools that reduce, eliminate, or prevent minority group isolation. The three year award is contingent upon performance outcomes and future funding, but the grant is expected to be funded at $11,262,523.



Recommendation

Recognize Magnet Principals, Magnet STEAM teams, and district staff for receiving the federal MSAP grant.

Present McNair Magnet Middle, Golfview Elementary Magnet, Stone Magnet Middle, and Palm Bay Magnet High Schools with the 2013-16 Magnet Schools Assistance Program Grant, 2013-16.
