Longleaf Elementary School and Sherwood Elementary School - Design Build Services - Flat Canopy Repairs
One of the flat canopies at the entrance to Longleaf Elementary School collapsed this summer. Several factors could have contributed to the collapse, so District staff engaged Heard Construction, Inc. under their continuing contract for design build services to remove the canopies at similarly designed schools (Sherwood Elementary and Westside Elementary), secure the sites so that the area can be utilized and design replacement systems at each school.
Based on a design by RZK Architects, Inc., Heard has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price to replace the canopies at each school in the following amounts not to exceed:
The work at Longleaf and Sherwood will be substantially complete within six weeks. A purchase order has already been issued for Westside because it is under the threshold required for Board approval.
Administrative and permitting expenses are estimated at $3,500 each at Longleaf and Sherwood and $1,500 for Westside. The project will be funded through capital.
Board approval is requires for purchase orders over $50,000.
